Standard Chartered Tanzania Provides USD 11,500 to Promote Entrepreneurship Growth

Standard Chartered Tanzania has increased its commitment to supporting local innovation and economic empowerment by announcing a contribution of USD 11,500 to Challenges Worldwide Tanzania. Challenges Worldwide is the lead implementing partner of Standard Chartered Institute’s RISE/E programme.

The funds are specifically targeted at enhancing the skills of local entrepreneurs, with a special focus on people with disabilities.

The contribution to the Wazo Bora Pitch programme will enable a one-week training camp, designed and implemented by Challenges Worldwide. Upon completion of the training, participants will have the opportunity to present their improved business plans to a panel of judges. The judges will select the first, second and third place winners who will be awarded capital to start and scale up their projects.

Standard Chartered Tanzania continues to focus on empowering entrepreneurs. These efforts are part of a broader three-year, TZS 2.2 billion programme — the RISE/E programme — launched in 2024 by Standard Chartered Institute. The main objective of this program is to directly support 340 small businesses and create 478 new jobs.

A Bank representative said: We continue to work with key partners like Challenges Worldwide to bring about meaningful change in our communities. This latest contribution ensures that we promote sustainable economic empowerment by providing local entrepreneurs with the capital and skills they need to succeed.
