STANBIC SUPPORTS CRDB BANK'S AL BARAKAH SUKUK ISSUANCE AS CO-MANAGER

Stanbic demonstrates its expertise as a Program Partner in supporting CRDB Bank's recent successful Al Barakah Sukuk issuance.

Dar es Salaam, Tanzania – Friday, 23 January 2026: Stanbic Bank has reaffirmed its position as a trusted partner in Tanzania’s capital markets through its participation as a Co-Ordinator for CRDB Bank’s recent Al Barakah Sukuk issuance. 


The bank provided expert support in the planning of the entire transaction, leveraging its long-standing experience and strong regional capabilities to ensure successful execution.


This CRDB Bank Al Barakah Sukuk is the third tranche that Stanbic has been involved in arranging on behalf of CRDB, demonstrating a long-term partnership built on deep technical expertise, careful planning and strong investor engagement. 


Through this work, the Bank has helped CRDB bring to the market investment opportunities that comply with Shariah principles, thus expanding the scope of participation for retail and institutional investors.


Speaking about the successful execution, Sarah Mkiramweni, Senior Vice President, Debt Capital Markets and Credit Coordination for East Africa, said the transaction demonstrates the positive results of close collaboration between underwriters, planners and regulators in an evolving financial environment.


 He added that the Stanbic team will remain committed to developing ethical and asset-backed financial instruments to strengthen Tanzania's capital markets and expand investment options for the public.


The bank explained that its planning capabilities are essential in a maturing market, especially as Tanzania prepares to establish a national Islamic financial regulatory framework. With over thirty years of experience in the country and a presence across Africa, Stanbic continues to support issuers seeking to raise capital through highly structured and managed instruments.


Speaking about the transaction, Ester Manase, Head of Investments at Stanbic Bank, said the success of CRDB Bank and Al Barakah's Sukuk reflects increasing investor confidence in professionally structured products and demonstrates the importance of sound advice, documentation preparation and investor awareness. 


He stressed that the bank will continue to provide guidance that helps bond issuers design instruments that meet market needs and regulatory expectations.


Stanbic noted that its underwriting capabilities are not limited to the CRDB Bank and Al Barakah Sukuk program alone.

 In recent years, the Bank has served as a Partner of the CRDB Samia Infrastructure Guarantee Facility, as the Lead Arranger of the CRDB Green Guarantee, also the Lead Arranger of the NMB Bank Guarantee Facility listed on the Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange, and as the Lead Arranger with the People's Bank of Zanzibar in a large joint loan aimed at supporting the development agenda of the Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar.
