Speaking about the contribution of these markets, Geita Regional Resident Mining Officer, Geologist Samwel Shoo, said the presence of mineral markets and mineral purchasing centers has strengthened the legal mineral trade by setting a guiding price system aimed at protecting the interests of small-scale miners and increasing transparency in the mineral trade .

He said that through these markets and mineral procurement centers, small-scale miners have been able to sell their minerals at good prices, which has increased their income and given them the ability to improve their lives, including paying for social services such as education, health and better housing .

Geologist Shoo added that the increase in mineral market activities has attracted traders, transporters and various service providers, a move that has stimulated the growth of small businesses, increased employment for youth and women, as well as strengthened the economy of the areas surrounding the markets .

He explained that overall, the Katoro and Geita Mineral Markets as well as mineral purchasing centers have contributed to increasing government revenue, strengthening the management of the mining sector and promoting sustainable economic and social development in the Geita Region.
